Job Description

Position Summary The LECOM Institute for Successful Living (LISL) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team in Erie, Pennsylvania. This full-time position is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to supporting LISL's mission of improving the lives of individuals through quality healthcare, education, and community services. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Support preparation of financial statements and internal reports Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions Monitor and analyze budgets, expenses, and variances Maintain accurate financial records and documentation Assist with audits, including preparing schedules and supporting documentation Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies Collaborate with department leaders on financial-related matters Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred (healthcare or nonprofit experience a plus) Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare or nonprofit accounting Familiarity with ERP systems CPA eligibility or progress toward certification is a plus
