Full Job Description Job Title:
Cost Accountant Job Summary:
The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, tracking, and reporting on Ritter Foods' Plant costs to support strategic decision-making and improve financial efficiency. This role plays a key part in budgeting, cost control, inventory valuation, and profitability analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Operations Team in the plant environment to measure standards, collect and understand Production Data Support Plant Management with insightful Production Reporting to explain operating results (daily, weekly, monthly) Prepare and analyze cost reports, including standard costs, variances, yields, labor and line efficiency Developing, Tracking and Reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Monitor and maintain accurate inventory costing and valuation and assist in physical and cycle counts Conduct cost analyses for new products, processes, projects and pricing Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements Reconcile cost-related accounts and ensure data accuracy Collaborate with operations, procurement, and finance teams to ensure proper cost allocation Support month-end and year-end closing activities Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (or a combination of core curriculum credits completion and relevant work experience). 2-5 years of experience in cost accounting or a similar role Experience compiling and analyzing large amounts of data and drawing conclusions Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and financial analysis Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills Experience with ERP systems is preferred Experience in a Plant environment

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and high level of accuracy Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Business acumen and understanding of operational processes
Work Environment:
Regular interaction with production or operations teams in a cold environment May require extended hours during financial closing periods
