Job Description

Tax AccountantPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Accountant to support our tax compliance and reporting activities. The Tax Accountant will prepare and review federal, state and local tax returns, ensure regulatory compliance, research tax issues, and support tax planning initiatives. This role works closely with internal finance teams and external advisors to deliver accurate, timely tax filings and to identify opportunities to optimize tax positions.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations and/or trusts as applicable.

Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulations and internal policies; monitor filing deadlines and coordinate timely submissions.

Research and interpret tax laws, rulings and guidance to resolve complex tax issues and support position papers.

Maintain organized tax workpapers, supporting documentation and audit-ready files for all returns and tax positions.

Support quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and assist with financial statement disclosures related to income taxes.

Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and government authorities during audits, inquiries and examinations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather tax-related data, implement process improvements and streamline tax workflows.

Assist in tax planning projects, identifying credits, deductions and opportunities to legally minimize tax liability.

Mentor and review the work of junior tax staff, providing feedback and training to strengthen team capabilities.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Masters degree or advanced tax coursework preferred.

Active CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred.2+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or corporate tax roles, demonstrating hands-on tax return preparation and compliance.

Demonstrated expertise in Tax, Tax Accountant responsibilities, and Tax Compliance.

Strong technical knowledge of federal, state and local tax laws and reporting requirements.

Experience with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, CCH Axcess) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, auditors and cross-functional partners.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have: experience with Federal Tax Return Preparation and prior exposure to Tax Manager responsibilities or supervisory experience.
