Job Description

SCHEERER BEARING CORPORATION
Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper Willow Grove, PA
  • On-site
  • Full-time
  • Early-career welcome For more than six decades, Scheerer Bearing has engineered and manufactured precision ball and roller bearings that keep heavy industry moving — wind turbines, mining equipment, steel mills, oil platforms, and military systems around the world.
We are an
ISO 9001
2015-certified U.S. manufacturer headquartered in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and we are growing. This is a chance to build the accounting backbone of a respected, hands-on manufacturing business — not to be one cog in a giant finance department. You will see how the whole company runs, work directly with leadership, and own real responsibility from day one. For someone early in their career who wants to learn fast and grow into more, this role is a launching pad: as the organization scales over the next several years, the person in this seat is positioned to grow right along with it. The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper to support the accounting operations of multiple affiliated entities. You will own accounts payable and accounts receivable end-to-end and play a central role in general accounting — month-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries. Because we operate several related companies, you will gain exposure to intercompany accounting and consolidated reporting that most early-career accountants do not touch for years. Why You'll Want This Role Real ownership, not busywork. You'll learn the full cycle — AP, AR, GL, month-end close, intercompany work, and audit support — broad exposure that builds a genuinely strong foundation. A seat near the action. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the people running the company and see how accounting decisions connect to the actual business. Room to grow. As we scale, the responsibilities of this role are designed to deepen. Take initiative and grow your skills, and there is meaningful room to take on more over time. A company with staying power. Modern manufacturing, an established reputation, and a team small enough that your work clearly matters. What You'll Do Accounts Payable Process vendor invoices and match them against original purchase orders. Prepare and process weekly check runs and ACH payments. Maintain vendor accounts and information. Reconcile AP reports. Accounts Receivable Generate and distribute customer invoices based on sales orders and shipments. Monitor customer accounts and aging reports. Apply customer payments and reconcile accounts. Partner with the sales team to keep shipping and customer information accurate for clean invoicing. General Accounting Prepare daily and monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and deferrals. Assist with month-end close and reporting on a reliable, repeatable schedule. Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including cash. Record and reconcile intercompany transactions across affiliated entities. Support external audits, reviews, and tax-preparation activities. What We're Looking For Most of what matters here can be taught to the right person — but a few skills are essential, and accrual accounting sits at the top of that list. Must-have skills Accrual accounting (essential). A working command of accrual-basis accounting — you understand the difference between cash and accrual, and can record accruals, prepaids, deferrals, and the journal entries that keep the books on an accrual basis. Month-end close & journal entries. Comfort building and reconciling journal entries, and supporting a structured month-end close. Reconciliations. You can reconcile cash and other balance sheet accounts and chase down discrepancies until they tie out. Excel proficiency. Solid Excel — comfortable with formulas, lookups, and pivot tables to organize and check your work. Detail & follow-through. Accurate, organized, and steady under deadlines across more than one company's books. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Roughly 2-5 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience — strong, eager candidates earlier in that range are encouraged to apply. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Familiarity with an accounting/ERP system such as Sage or QuickBooks (a plus, not a dealbreaker). Ability to manage priorities across multiple companies and meet deadlines. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Nice to have Exposure to a manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environment. Progress toward a CPA, or interest in pursuing one — we're happy to support your growth. Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation package. 401(k) with 3% company contribution. Health, dental, and life insurance. Paid time off and company holidays.
