Job Description

Job Summary This job can grow into full time with additional duties. But, it is not too demanding in the beginning. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our financial records and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with senior accountants and contribute to various projects, providing valuable insights into financial operations. Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Support tax-related activities and regulatory reporting requirements. Conduct financial analysis, including cash flow analysis and budgeting. Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate bookkeeping records. Utilize accounting software such as Sage or Xero for various accounting tasks. Assist in auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and support. Mentor junior staff members in accounting principles and practices. Collaborate with team members to enhance financial management practices. Skills Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and financial concepts. Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, Xero) and financial software applications. Familiarity with SOX compliance, LIHTC regulations, governmental accounting, and non-profit accounting is a plus. Knowledge of securities law, wills, trusts & estate law, corporate finance, and private equity is beneficial. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports effectively. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting. Ability to perform account analysis, budget forecasting, and cash flow management. Experience in payroll processing and managing financial services operations is advantageous. Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with team members. Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
