We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant who is an excellent multitasker with exceptional communication and time management skills! This position will assist Senior Accountants with data entry, payment processing, accounts receivable/payable, audits and any other additional financial related tasks. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of basic accounting principles and proficiency with computers and software. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, particularly within the insurance industry. We are looking for a team player who is eager to streamline processes and share innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:
Manage the full cycle of AR/AP activities, including invoicing, collections, and posting payments using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft. Perform detailed account analysis and reconciliation to ensure accuracy of receivables and resolve discrepancies efficiently. Prepare journal entries related to revenue recognition, cash receipts, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Conduct account reconciliation for customer accounts and ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls. Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to negotiate payment terms and resolve billing issues promptly. Support revenue cycle management by analyzing outstanding balances, following up on overdue accounts, and ensuring timely collections. Monitor and review banking transactions on a daily basis and properly post payments (Wire, ACH, and Checks) into the systems Send account statements, review and manage billing discrepancies Review insurance related notices on accounts Assist with billing communications Assist in maintaining the departmental shared inbox, ensuring organization and all inquiries are answered in a timely manner Review audit accounts and manage inquiries Manage and review the claims process Assist with the external audit process Assist with month and quarter-end close
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting 1-3 years of accounting experience Demonstrate excellence in both verbal and written communication Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to changing responsibilities Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Familiarity with Origami Risk is preferred but not required
