Job Description

Vantage Tax & Advisory is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Accountant (Tax) to support our growing practice. This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is eager to develop strong technical and professional skills in accounting and taxation while working in a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. The Associate Accountant is responsible for preparing tax returns, supporting client engagements, learning firm processes, and contributing to the overall success of the team. We are looking for someone who is organized, eager to learn, responsive, and committed to delivering high-quality work and client service. Responsibilities & Duties Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and non-profits (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 1041, 990) under supervision Prepare and maintain supporting workpapers, including book-to-tax adjustments, depreciation schedules, and fixed asset rollforwards Organize, analyze, and input client financial data accurately Assist with multi-state filings, apportionment schedules, extensions, estimated tax payments, and basic tax calculations Produce accurate and organized workpapers and tax returns while following firm standards and workflow procedures Address review comments promptly and incorporate feedback effectively Communicate professionally with clients to request documents and clarify information Assist with IRS and state notices, audit support, and information gathering as assigned Complete assignments within deadlines and budgeted time while keeping supervisors informed of progress and issues Participate in internal training programs and actively develop technical skills and industry knowledge Work effectively with team members across engagements and contribute to a positive and professional work environment Support state and local compliance filings, including business licenses and personal property tax filings Participate in firm events, networking opportunities, and business development support activities as appropriate Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA candidate or interest in pursuing CPA strongly preferred Internship or 0-2 years of tax or accounting experience preferred (new graduates welcome) Basic understanding of tax and accounting concepts Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with CCH Axcess Tax, Caseware, or similar software is a plus Positive attitude, professionalism, reliability, and eagerness to learn and grow What We Offer Competitive compensation Four (4) weeks of PTO and nine (9) firm holidays CPA and professional development support Collaborative and supportive team culture Hybrid or remote flexibility available Exposure to a variety of clients and industries Long-term career growth opportunities within a growing firm
