Remote Mondays & Fridays, In-Office Tues-Thurs) CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Bank Staff Accountant for a long-term temporary engagement (4-6 months) with a financial institution in Fort Worth. This role will support critical accounting functions during an active period of transition and process improvement. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who can step in, take ownership of the close process, and contribute immediately within a banking environment.Responsibilities:
- Execute key components of the month-end close, including journal entries and financial adjustments
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations with a high level of accuracy and follow-through
- Review financial activity and identify discrepancies, trends, or unusual variances
- Support preparation of internal financial reporting and analysis tied to bank operations
- Collaborate with leadership on balance sheet forecasting and reporting needs
- Assist with audit readiness, including documentation for external auditors and regulatory agencies
- Maintain organized and compliant workpapers for internal and external review
- Contribute to regulatory filings and internal audit support efforts
- Utilize Excel and Jack Henry systems to manage and analyze financial data
- Provide input on process improvements as the team works through system changes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
- 3-5 years of true bank accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work through discrepancies independently
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with Jack Henry or similar banking systems preferred
- Ability to jump in quickly and operate with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exposure to audits or regulatory reporting is a plus
- Experience with system transformations or process improvements is highly preferred
