Job Description
Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who is seeking to work part-time. This salaried and hybrid position works approximately 30 hours per week and is primarily responsible for the bookkeeping and financial management functions for the church. Primary Duties
Accounts receivable/payable and cash disbursement administration and oversight
Monitor cash balances
Maintain general ledger for Ministry Fund
Maintain timely and adequate reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
Provide audit support
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for presentation to the Leadership Board
Prepare income and expense forecasts and actual expenditures vs. budget
Write monthly report to explain the financial trends and issues of concern which are distributed to members of the Leadership Board prior to each meeting
Prepares Charge Conference and Annual Conference financial documents Additional Duties
Classify and record individual donor contributions, including funds received by mail or electronically, according to the purpose for which they were given Keep records of pledges for Operating Fund
Prepare and mail/email quarterly and annual giving statements to church members
Maintain personnel files
Administer payroll employee benefits and IRS compliance
Facilitate new employee orientation and registration with payroll, pension, and insurance companies
Oversee background checks on new employees
Attend weekly staff meetings Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate degree in accounting or business administration (or comparable work experience)
Accounting experience including reconciliations and preparing financial statements
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and Word
Detail oriented and able to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
