Job Description

Cost Accountant Plano, TX
  • hybrid, 3 days onsite Vaco is currently working with a global holding company with multiple entities that is relocating corporate functions to Dallas (where one of their most complex and fastest growing LOBs is based) to onboard a Cost Accountant to support the accounting for 3 of their plants. Will oversee the fiscal close and all associated cost accounting
  • (multiple SKUs)
  • bill of materials, raw materials, margin analysis, inventory, fixed assets, etc.
This role partners closely with plant operations, supply chain, and finance leadership to ensure accurate inventory valuation, product costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
Compensation:
$95-110K + 10
Bonus Day-to-Day:
Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventories. Review and reconcile inventory balances, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and
U.S. GAAP.
Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, overhead, scrap, and production efficiency variances. Monitor inventory transactions, cycle count results, and physical inventory adjustments. Partner with plant leadership to identify cost drivers and opportunities for operational improvement. Support annual standard cost updates and cost roll processes. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing operations for three production facilities. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting of manufacturing results. Analyze financial performance and explain period-over-period fluctuations in manufacturing costs and margins. Assist with preparation of management reporting packages and operational performance metrics. Develop and maintain reporting and dashboards to monitor plant performance and key cost metrics. Partner with operations, procurement, and supply chain teams to improve cost visibility and financial decision-making. Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning activities for manufacturing operations. Perform ad hoc financial analysis related to production, inventory, and operational initiatives. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting requirements. Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory and manufacturing accounting. Assist in the development and enhancement of cost accounting processes, procedures, and system controls. Identify opportunities to streamline close processes and improve reporting accuracy. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, including cost accounting within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing variances. Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting processes. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms. =================================== Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
