$145,000-155000 About the Firm We currently have an opportunity for a Fiduciary Accountant with an entrepreneurial law firm with a sophisticated trusts and estates practice in the Roseland, NJ area. This is a hybrid opportunity, three days in the office and two from home per week following the first 60 days on site. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary: $140,000 - $150,000 Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision) 401K Generous PTO The ideal candidate will have prior experience within a public accounting firm, family office, trust company, or wealth advisory environment and possess strong technical knowledge of fiduciary accounting, estate taxation, and Form 706 preparation. Fiduciary Accountant position responsibilities are:
Prepare federal and state fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041) for trusts and estates. Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns (Form 1040) for high-net-worth individuals and families. Prepare and assist with federal estate tax returns (Form 706), including asset valuation schedules, supporting documentation, and tax calculations. Prepare federal gift tax returns (Form 709) as needed. Calculate fiduciary accounting income and principal allocations in accordance with governing documents and applicable law. Assist with trust and estate accountings, including preparation of detailed schedules of assets, receipts, disbursements, gains, losses, and distributions. Analyze financial records, brokerage statements, and tax documents to ensure accurate reporting. Collaborate with attorneys regarding estate administration, trust administration, tax planning, and compliance matters. Communicate directly with executors, trustees, beneficiaries, financial advisors, and accountants regarding tax and accounting matters. Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely completion of tax returns and related filings. Research federal and state tax issues affecting trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals. Assist with post-mortem tax planning strategies and estate settlement matters. Prepare tax projections and assist with tax-saving strategies for clients and fiduciaries. Support special projects involving complex trust structures, charitable entities, family partnerships, and closely held business interests. Fiduciary Accountant position requirements are:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of experience in fiduciary accounting, trust and estate taxation, or public accounting. Demonstrated experience preparing Form 706 Estate Tax Returns. Strong experience preparing Forms 1041 and 1040 for high-net-worth clients. Working knowledge of estate, gift, trust, and fiduciary taxation. Experience handling complex financial statements, investment accounts, and asset reporting. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment. Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.
