Position Summary Compiles and inputs journal entries to prepare to prepare monthly financial statements for insurance entities. Prepares quarterly and annual statutory financial statements. Reconciles all general ledger accounts. Performs financial analysis and assists with special projects as needed. This is a hybrid position based in Portland, Oregon. Pay Range $65,682.16 - $82,107.97 annually (depending on experience). Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range. Bachelor's degree or equivalent specializing in Accounting or Finance. 2 - 4 years accounting experience, preferably in insurance industry (SAP). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Typing and 10-key proficiency of 45 wpm and 170 spm on a computer numeric keypad/calculator, respectively. Strong understanding of balancing concepts. Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities. Willingness to work additional hours when necessary. Maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image.
Primary Functions :
Prepares journal entries and financial statements for two entities Reconciles bank accounts Reconciles all other general ledge accounts Analyzes monthly results, researches, and explains significant variations Prepares quarterly and annual statutory reports to be filed with AMBEST, NAIC, and various other states Stays abreast of current accounting issues, including GAAP and SAP Prepares miscellaneous compliance filings Works with other departments as necessary to ensure financial statements are complete and accurate Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions & Contact with Others Office environment with extensive close PC and keyboard use, constant sitting, and frequent phone communication. Must be able to navigate multiple computer screens. A reliable, high-speed, hard-wired internet connection required to support remote or hybrid work. Must be comfortable being on camera for virtual training and meetings. Work in excess of standard workweek, including evenings and occasional weekends, to meet business need. Internally with all departments and financial accountants. Externally with bank personnel, independent auditors, and state regulators. Together, we can be more. We can be better.
