Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and journal entries to ensure data integrity. Manage general ledger accounting processes using accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow analysis to maintain optimal financial health. Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and assist with internal and external audits to uphold transparency. Support regulatory reporting obligations related to securities law, governmental accounting standards, or nonprofit regulations like LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit). Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices, financial report writing, and interpretation of complex financial data. Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and financial management activities to align with organizational goals. Maintain meticulous records of all financial transactions including journal entries, debits & credits, and account reconciliations. Assist with tax experience related to corporate finance or nonprofit entities to ensure compliance and optimize tax strategies. Qualifications Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting or nonprofit accounting environments with a strong understanding of GAAP. Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting areas such as SOX compliance, securities law, governmental accounting or Wills, trusts & estate law is highly desirable. Proficiency with accounting software including PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero or QuickBooks; familiarity with Microsoft Excel for advanced data analysis is essential. Solid knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation and account analysis. Experience in financial report writing and interpretation to support executive decision-making. Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform cash flow analysis and financial statement preparation accurately. Ability to mentor team members while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. Excellent understanding of regulatory reporting requirements for securities law or government agencies; familiarity with LIHTC is a plus.
