Today our work includes residential and commercial construction projects, ongoing system maintenance and service, warranty support, inventory management, and long-term customer relationships. Our accounting environment reflects this complexity, combining elements of construction accounting, project accounting, inventory accounting, and service operations within a small business setting. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an environment where operational decisions, project progress, and accounting are closely connected. Position Summary The Part-Time Staff Accountant (Construction & Project Accounting) is responsible for maintaining day-to-day accounting operations and supporting accurate financial reporting in a complex accrual-basis environment. This role owns many accounting workflows from estimates, to bills, and invoicing through reconciliations, monthly close, budget reporting, and inventory accounting within QuickBooks Online Advanced. The position requires comfort working independently, maintaining accurate records with minimal supervision, and collaborating with leadership and external Controller/CFO support. Flexible scheduling is available; however, the role benefits from light weekday availability to support invoicing timelines, inventory accuracy, and monthly accounting workflows. This role is likely not a fit for candidates whose experience is primarily limited to payroll processing, basic bookkeeping, or accounts payable/accounts receivable functions. Experience with accrual accounting and month-end close ownership is important. Core ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Monthly Close Maintain accurate books using accrual basis accounting Reconcile bank, credit card, and liability accounts Complete monthly close procedures Participate in monthly financial review meetings Prepare reports and supporting schedules for external Controller/CFO review and CPA needs Accounts Payable & Cash Management Process approximately 50-60 vendor bills monthly Schedule ACH payments Maintain vendor records and balances Review bills against purchase orders and receipts Accounts Receivable & Billing Manage approximately 75-85 invoices monthly Handle progress invoicing for installation projects Support service billing workflows Prepare

Qualifications Required:
5+ years accounting or bookkeeping experience Strong QuickBooks Online Advanced experience Experience with accrual accounting Experience with construction accounting, project accounting, or job costing Ability to independently complete monthly close activities Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills High attention to detail
Preferred:
Experience with indirect allocations and management reporting Experience with AIA billing Inventory accounting experience Experience with solar, trades, service businesses, or contractors Familiarity with working alongside external CPA or Controller teams
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
