The firm advises institutional and private clients and actively participates in development, acquisitions, and asset management across the U.S. We operate in a high-performance, entrepreneurial environment where team members are expected to take ownership, solve problems, and build scalable systems. Position Overview BA Group is seeking a part-time/fractional Controller with significant real estate development experience to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, project accounting, and financial controls across multiple entities and development projects. Expect to provide 10-40 hours per quarter. The candidate will serve as the primary accounting leader while partnering closely with management and external CPA.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting:
Quarterly oversee accounting activities across operating entities and project-specific ownership structures. Review monthly and quarterly financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting. Oversee general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes. Monitor company cash flow, liquidity, and capital requirements.
Quarterly Real Estate Development Accounting:
Assist with project-level accounting for development and investment activities. Quarterly review the development budgets, sources and uses, capital expenditures, and project performance. Quarterly job costing, work in process schedules, capitalization policies, and cost allocations. Assist with lender reporting, and funding requirements.
Partnership & Investment:
Assist with partnership accounting and ownership reporting. Support investor reporting and capital account tracking. Review promote, waterfall, and distribution calculations as required.
Tax & Compliance:
Coordinate with external CPA firms regarding tax planning, compliance, and entity structuring. Support annual tax return preparation and review. Maintain fixed asset schedules and capitalization records. Assist with cost segregation studies and depreciation schedules where applicable. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local filing requirements.
Strategic Support:
Serve as a financial advisor to ownership and senior leadership. Provide insight regarding development economics, deal structures, financing strategies, and tax implications. Assist with lender, investor, and due diligence requests.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required:
Strong understanding of real estate development accounting, job costing and work-in-process accounting, partnership accounting, investor reporting, capitalization of development costs, and construction lending and draw processes. Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fractional leadership role.information
Preferred:
CPA designation. Familiarity with capital stacks, equity structures, and institutional financing. Experience with real estate funds, waterfalls, and promote structures. Experience with aviation real estate, infrastructure projects, or specialized commercial real estate asset classes. Experience supporting rapidly growing entrepreneurial organizations.
