Responsibilities The Project Accountant partners with project teams to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting, analysis, and operational support across lump sum and GMP projects. This role serves as a key financial steward, ensuring compliance, strengthening controls, and providing insight into project performance. The Project Accountant owns the billing process, validates project financial activity, and collaborates closely with Project Managers and Operations to ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost tracking. This role reports to a Supervisor within Group Finance and delivers a high level of service to both internal stakeholders (Project Managers, PXs, Superintendents) and external partners (owners, subcontractors, vendors).
Key Responsibilities:
Set up project budget within CMiC to ensure accuracy and alignment with contract. Establish & maintain job specific rate tables in accordance with contract.
Lead owner billing process:
prepare, review, post, and maintain billing trackers; participate in pencil reviews with clients as needed. Support collection efforts to receive payments within contract terms. Ensure subcontractor compliance, including insurance, lien waivers, and second-tier requirements. Manage subcontractor payment processes and respond to subcontractor inquiries. Review, approve, and cost-code invoices. Process cost reallocations. Partner with vendors and Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies. Review monthly Cost-to-Complete (CTC) reports; analyze and explain gross profit fluctuations, identifying risks and opportunities. Provide support for internal and external audits. Attend Project Meetings as needed. Prepare project Specific Work-in-Process (WIP) entries, including Risk & Opportunity (R&O) analysis. Support teams with project revenue projections and ensure alignment with project performance. Qualifications 2+ years project accounting experience required, preferably in the construction industry. Some experience/knowledge of AIA billing, subcontractor compliance, cost forecasting & revenue recognition. CMIC and/or Textura experience is a plus, but not required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management preferred. Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you!
