Project Accountant ???? SoHo / West Village Area, NYC (Hybrid) ???? Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM ???? Hybrid schedule - 3-4 days onsite weekly An established and highly regarded interior design firm is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial management of high-end design projects from kickoff through completion. This role will partner closely with Project Managers, Studio Leadership, and Consultants to oversee project budgets, billing, forecasting, and accounts receivable activity in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys project-based accounting, thrives in detail-oriented environments, and has experience supporting architecture, interior design, engineering, or other professional services teams. Responsibilities Manage project setup, Schedule of Values, and budget tracking within Deltek Ajera and Excel Partner with Project Managers to support forecasting, cost tracking, labor analysis, and overall project financial performance Prepare and process monthly client invoicing while ensuring deadlines and billing accuracy are met Monitor accounts receivable activity, identify aging balances, and assist with collections follow-up Track consultant/vendor invoices and verify alignment with contracts and project budgets Review project financials, conduct audits as needed, and support leadership reporting Attend project kickoff meetings and maintain understanding of project contracts and billing structures Prepare monthly AR and cash receipts reporting for leadership review Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and outside consultants to ensure smooth project execution Qualifications 2-5+ years of project accounting experience within architecture, interior design, engineering, construction, or professional services environments Hands-on experience with Deltek Ajera, Vision, or Vantagepoint required Strong Excel skills and comfort working with project budgets, reporting, and financial analysis Understanding of project-based billing structures, percent-complete accounting, and consultant coordination preferred Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Ideal Background Experience supporting creative, design-oriented, or client-service-driven organizations Comfortable interacting directly with Project Managers, leadership, vendors, and clients Highly detail-oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset Someone who enjoys ownership and visibility within a collaborative studio environment
