Position Overview The Property Accountant will oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting responsibilities for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This individual will serve as a key financial partner to both accounting leadership and property management teams while taking ownership of a portfolio of commercial properties. Schedule & Work Environment Hybrid schedule available Flexible scheduling available Collaborative, small-team environment with strong leadership visibility Family-oriented culture emphasizing work-life balance and professional development Key Responsibilities Property Accounting & Financial Reporting Perform full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate properties Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules Record journal entries, accruals, amortization, and depreciation Review and reconcile general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness Perform monthly bank reconciliations and monitor property cash activity Assist with audit and tax preparation workpapers Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes across assigned properties Analyze operating results and provide variance commentary to management teams Partner with property management to identify trends, risks, and opportunities Assist leadership with financial reporting and operational insights Tenant & Property Financial Operations Calculate and reconcile tenant-related billings including CAM and percentage rent Coordinate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure timely processing Review tenant billings, cash applications, and financial transactions for accuracy and compliance Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and reporting issues Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with property managers, corporate accounting, and senior leadership teams Support external audit and tax preparation processes Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies across the accounting function Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate, property management, or related industries Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar accounting/ERP systems is highly preferred CAM reconciliation experience strongly preferred Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Why This Opportunity Stands Out This is far more than a traditional accounting position.
