Visit www.zspace.com or follow @zSpace on Twitter. Job Description Our finance team is looking for a meticulous and insightful Revenue Accountant to enhance our operations. This position focuses on the precise and prompt recording of income, adhering strictly to ASC 606 standards and internal protocols. Your responsibilities include collaborating across teams—specifically with Sales, Legal, and FP&A—to evaluate contractual agreements, manage revenue timelines, and assist with various audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain monthly revenue recognition schedules, deferred revenue roll forwards, and support reconciliations. Record journal entries for revenue, deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and contract assets/liabilities. Analyze customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606, including identifying performance obligations and allocating transaction price. Partner with Sales Operations and Deal Desk teams during contract review to identify revenue implications of non-standard terms. Assist in the preparation of revenue-related disclosures for financial statements and audit workpapers. Support internal and external audit requests, including SOX compliance documentation.
Preferred Responsibilities:
Monitor changes to revenue accounting standards and assist in assessing the impact on company policies and procedures. Maintain and improve revenue-related processes within the ERP system, ensuring data integrity and efficient workflows. Contribute to system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives related to revenue accounting. Own end-of-end sales commission accounting, including calculation, accrual, and reconciliation of commissions in accordance with
ASC 340-40
(costs to obtain a contract). Maintain commission amortization schedules and partner with Sales and HR to validate commission payouts against plan structures and quota attainment. Support cost accounting functions and inventory-related journal entries.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a public company or public accounting environment. Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), including practical application across multi-element arrangements. Solid understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles. Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics); ability to run reports, perform reconciliations, and maintain data within the system. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas. Hands-on experience with AI systems (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA license or active CPA candidacy. Experience with revenue sub-ledger or CPQ tools (Salesforce, NetSuite, Captivate). Prior experience in hardware, software, SaaS, technology, or subscription-based business model. Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls over financial reporting. Experience participating in ERP implementations or finance system migrations. Experience managing sales commission accounting, including familiarity with
ASC 340-40
capitalization and amortization requirements. Hands-on experience with cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and COGS reconciliations.
