This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing a wide range of tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and providing strategic tax guidance to individuals and businesses. The ideal employee combines technical expertise with strong client service skills to deliver accurate, timely, and proactive tax returns and solutions.

Compensation:

$75 hourly potential

Responsibilities:

Tax Preparation & Review Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current tax regulations Stay current on changes in tax laws and communicate impacts to clients and internal teams Client Relationship Management Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships Respond to client inquiries and provide clear, actionable guidance Compliance & Research Conduct tax research on complex issues and document findings Ensure compliance with Internal Revenue Service regulations and applicable state laws Assist with notices, and correspondence with taxing authorities Process Improvement & Efficiency Utilize tax software and technology tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy Contribute to the development of best practices and standardized procedures Team Collaboration Work closely with tax strategists, other accountants, controller, and operations staff Mentor junior staff and review their work as needed Support firm initiatives and contribute to a collaborative team environment

Qualifications:

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Master's in Taxation preferred) Active CPA license required 3-7+ years of experience in tax preparation within a public accounting firm Experience with a variety of entity types and industries preferred Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations High attention to detail and accuracy Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong client service and communication abilities Ability to manage multiple deadlines, especially during peak tax season Proficiency in CCH Axcess tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel About Company Brown & Sterling is a business-driven tax strategy law firm with offices in Fall City, WA., and Mission Valley, San Diego, CA.
