The Senior Accountant will play a key role in providing tax compliance, tax planning, consulting, and financial reporting services to a diverse client base that includes closely held businesses, partnerships, corporations, nonprofits, and high-net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting and tax knowledge, excellent client service skills, and the ability to manage multiple engagements while mentoring junior staff. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Preparation Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for: Individuals (Forms 1040) Partnerships (Forms 1065) S Corporations (Forms 1120-S) C Corporations (Forms 1120) Trusts and Estates (Forms 1041) Conduct tax research and resolve complex tax issues. Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and related compliance requirements. Communicate with taxing authorities regarding notices, audits, and inquiries. Tax Planning & Consulting Provide proactive tax planning strategies for business and individual clients. Identify opportunities for tax savings, entity structure optimization, and succession planning. Assist clients with year-end tax projections and estimated tax calculations. Research and communicate the impact of changing tax laws and regulations. Financial Statement Services Prepare and review compiled or reviewed financial statements in accordance with applicable professional standards. Prepare adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations. Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to clients and firm leadership. Assist clients with accounting and financial reporting matters. Client Management & Advisory Services Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and exceptional service. Participate in client meetings to discuss tax, accounting, and business matters. Identify opportunities to expand services and provide value-added consulting. Leadership & Team Development Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountants and interns. Review staff work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm standards. Assist managers and partners with engagement planning and workflow management. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and firm growth objectives. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-7+ years of public accounting experience. Strong knowledge of federal and New York State tax laws. Experience preparing business and individual tax returns. Proficiency with accounting and tax software applications. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities during busy seasons. Preferred CPA license or CPA candidate actively pursuing certification preferred. Experience with QuickBooks, CCH, Thomson Reuters, or similar tax and accounting software. Experience with financial statement preparation, compilation and review engagements is a plus. Prior experience supervising staff and managing client relationships.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
