Legislative Administration is actively recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join their talented Financial Services team. Financial Services supports six of the seven legislative branch agencies by providing budget, accounting, and contracting services in a collaborative and service-oriented environment. This position will lead our accounting functions. It includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, profile maintenance, maintaining procedures, prepares year end reporting and bond debt service management. The position interacts with agency and branch leadership including Legislative Members and staff. Because of the size of our office there will also be opportunities to participate in the states Budget Development and Execution processes. Our office is a small team made up of two accountants, one contract specialist, and one fiscal coordinator. We value teamwork, cross-training, and supporting one another so that workloads can be managed smoothly during leave periods or vacancies. We are looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively and building positive professional relationships. The work of a Senior Accountant allows for some flexibility to work remotely dependent on time of year and business needs. However, applicants should be aware that most work will be conducted in person at the Oregon State Capitol or other onsite legislative offices. Our ideal candidate will be an accounting professional well versed in the State of Oregon's accounting process and associated systems, including SFMA, Workday, and
GAAP/GASB
principles; or education or experience and desire to gain knowledge and experience in the State of Oregon's budgetary process. As part of a nonpartisan team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Oregon's legislative process while supporting the important work of the Legislative Branch on behalf of all Oregonians. Additional work history and experience of the successful candidate will include:
Knowledge of:
Computerized accounting systems Governmental accounting, including source of funds, budgetary accounting, and segregation or expenditures and revenues Internal fiscal control requirements Skill in: Math and accounting Reconciling accounts, initiating corrections, and adjusting entries Analyzing accounting information to prevent, detect, and correct errors Applying governmental accounting policies and procedures Analyzing nonstandard accounting transactions to decide and initiate appropriate entries Interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to financial operations Ability to: Aggregate accounting information into meaningful reports and convey accounting information and processes to non-accounting staff Maintain organization of multiple agencies with complex funding structures Formulate recommendations regarding changes to policies or standards Maintain an impartial, non-partisan perspective in a political environment To review the position description in its entirety, please click here. HOW TO QUALIFY
Your application must demonstrate: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 32 quarter credit hours in accounting or related field and five (5) years of related experience. •An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered.

The Capitol Building will be undergoing extensive renovation and construction projects which may limit accessibility to employees. Employees eligible for PERS will have their salary increased by 6.95% and 6% will be automatically subject to a mandatory employee contribution to PERS.
