Reporting to the CFO of Desjardins Bank, this role will oversee the activities of the accounting department including treasury operations, monthly closing, GL integrity, financial controls, and financial reporting Summary of Essential Duties Prepare all closing-related entries ensuring adequate and accurate supporting documentation. Prepare monthly financial statements for the Bank and Holding Company (Consolidation), ensuring they match supporting reports with validated spreadsheet formulas. Prepare the quarterly Call Report and other monthly and quarterly reports, including those required by the Desjardins Group, according to the regulatory instructions within specified deadlines. Identify potential adjustments and maintain appropriate audit trails and accurate supporting schedules. Oversee all investment accounting and perform the quarterly valuation analysis. Prepare monthly variance reports and signal significant variances to the CFO and President & CEO. Ensure that internal controls are appropriate and functional, account reconciliations are complete, and reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner. Perform quarterly IRR simulations, IRR back testing, liquidity stress tests, and incorporate financial projections for the annual budget. Review and authorize all new vendors in the payment platform for accounting and accounts payable purposes. Perform account and system-related research to assist in correcting errors or misclassifications identified during the closing process. Review and approve accounting staff activities (entries, reconciliations, etc.) for accuracy, proper internal controls and documentation, timeliness, and GAAP compliance. Evaluate processes to ensure proper reporting and data integrity of all processing systems. Make recommendations for process changes to generate operational and cost efficiency. Attend and complete periodic training in BSA, Compliance and other mandatory training sessions scheduled by management. Knowledge/Experience/Training/Educational Requirements A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or another related field is required. Master's Degree in Accounting or Management is a plus. CPA is highly desirable Exceptional knowledge of accounting principles in Canada (IFRS) and US GAAP and financial institution accounting practices with a minimum of 6 years' experience. Works well with others and demonstrates leadership skills. Excellent understanding of account reconciliation with experience in preparing Call Reports (and other regulatory reports) and financial statements. Knowledge of database systems, core processing applications, and software integration. Intermediate to advanced Excel user skills. Ability to implement efficient processes and cost savings methods. Manages time well and is a diligent worker. Possesses excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Initiative-taker capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Bilingual (English and French) is highly desirable. Physical and Other Requirements Can work under tight deadlines and be willing to work overtime if necessary. Ability to sit for prolonged periods and ability to visually focus on data and reports both printed and on computer screens for extended periods. Requires hand, finger, and wrist dexterity to perform data entry and related computer skills, and speech ability to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
