Senior Accountant Job Description The Senior Accountant oversees key accounting functions, including month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger management, while ensuring compliance with GAAP. This role prepares and analyzes financial statements, supports audits and tax filings, and contributes to process improvements within the accounting department. Responsibilities Facilitate and complete month-end closing procedures, including general ledger reconciliations and journal entries. Research and determine the most effective methods for handling complex accounting transactions. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, departmental income statements, and statements of cash flows. Analyze financial statements, including profit and loss variances against budget, and meet deadlines in accordance with the month-end closing calendar. Maintain and oversee accounts within the ERP system for general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Coordinate meetings with the corporate accounting leadership and financial analysts to communicate general ledger activity in relation to department budgets. Support the Controller and Corporate Accounting Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements. Assist the CFO and Controller with the annual external financial audit, state audit, and preparation of the organization's tax return (Form 990). Research, develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies in accordance with GAAP. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations. Proficiency in month-end close processes and journal entry preparation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $40.86/hr.
