Job Description

Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant. The role will be responsible for managing the general ledger, preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting external audits. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a deep understanding of GAAP and financial operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Schedule:
Full Time, Hybrid Role (Garden City, NY)
  • In Office Tuesdays & Thursdays.
On a monthly basis, close the books in accordance with GAAP in 10 business days. This includes Journal Entry review/approval, review of high-risk areas and management estimates, and account reconciliation review/approval. Maintain monthly review workpapers and other month end reconciliations. Analyze financial data and present insights to management. Assist FP&A with budget preparation. Prepare and assist in month end financial statement analysis. Adhoc projects for Director of Accounting and the Assistant Controller as needed. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Assist with annual audit and financial statement preparation. Assist with annual tax engagements. Prepare tax and tax related reporting including Sales Tax returns and 1099 reporting. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Experience in Healthcare industries is preferred but not required. Ideal candidate will have significant technical knowledge of GAAP accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full time position requiring 40 hours per week, (excluding meal period), and is generally worked Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:30 pm. More specific hours shall be established and communicated in a written offer of employment and will be subject to the needs of the organization, which may be subject to change from time to time. Overtime is expected as needed during month end and year end closing procedures. Education and/or Experience Bachelor s degree from a four-year College; a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.
