This role is responsible for managing core accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the organization's financial health through sound analysis, budgeting, and compliance practices. This is a HYBRID role in Fort Lauderdale, FL Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and review financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) in accordance with accounting standards Analyze financial results, identify variances from budget or prior periods, and communicate findings to leadership Monitor and report on departmental and company-wide expenditures against approved budgets Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Budgeting & Forecasting Support the annual budgeting process and coordinate input from department heads Prepare rolling forecasts and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making Partner with FP&A and business unit leaders on financial planning and capital allocation Track actuals versus forecast and provide timely variance commentary General Ledger & Operations Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all accounts Review and approve invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments in accordance with company policy Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed Manage fixed asset schedules, depreciation, and capitalization policies Support treasury operations including cash management and bank reconciliations Controls & Compliance Ensure all accounting activities are performed in compliance with accounting standards and internal policies Support internal and external audit requests, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting Ensure timely and accurate tax filings in coordination with external advisors (sales tax, property tax, etc.) Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements to mitigate financial risk Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with operations, HR, back office, and other business units to provide financial guidance and support Assist in evaluating the financial impact of business decisions, contracts, and new initiatives Support lender, investor, and board reporting requirements as needed Mentor junior accounting staff and support knowledge-sharing across the team Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; renewable energy experience preferred Proficiency in ERP systems; Sage and Microsoft Excel preferred Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship Why Blue Sky Utility Play a meaningful role in scaling one of the fastest-growing renewable energy platforms in the U.S. You'll work closely with a collaborative finance team, gain exposure to complex project-level accounting, and help build the financial infrastructure that powers a cleaner energy future. The base salary range for this role is $80,000-$100,000, plus a performance-based bonus.
