Senior Accountant This position follows a hybrid work schedule under a 3-day/2-day model. Employees work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and are on-site in the corporate office Tuesday through Thursday.

Role Summary:
The Senior Accountant provides critical oversight and technical support for the Payroll and Billing functions. This role ensures the accuracy of all labor and revenue data by performing final "check balance" reviews, reconciling complex balance sheet accounts, and leading the month-end close process. A key component of this role is mentoring and training Payroll and Billing specialists to ensure compliance with DCAA, SCA, FAR, DFARS and GAAP standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Billing Review:
Perform high-level "check balance" audits for all payroll runs (ADP) and billing cycles (Unanet). Verify that labor distributions, tax liabilities, and client invoices reconcile perfectly to the General Ledger before final posting.
Month-End Closing:
Lead the month-end close process for payroll and billing. Prepare and post complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and indirect cost allocations.
Balance Sheet Reconciliation:
Own the reconciliation of all payroll-related and billing-related balance sheet accounts, including Accrued Payroll, Payroll Tax Liabilities, Fringe Obligations, and Unbilled Receivables.
Mentorship & Training:
Serve as the primary technical lead and mentor for Payroll and Billing Specialists. Provide guidance on Unanet mapping, SCA compliance, and reconciliation best practices to elevate the team's accuracy.
Variance Analysis:
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between ADP registers and Unanet project reports on a monthly basis.
Audit Readiness:
Coordinate with the Accounting Director to ensure all documentation for DCAA, DOL, or year-end financial audits is accurate and audit ready.
Process Oversight:
Identify root causes of recurring errors (such as duplicate tax filings or mapping issues) and implement corrective internal controls.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Experience:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a Government Contractingenvironment.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of DCAA labor charging guidelines and SCA (Service Contract Act) wage determinations.
System Proficiency:
Advanced hands-on experience with Unanet and ADP (Workforce Now) is highly preferred.
Analytical Skills:
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.) for high-volume data reconciliation.
Preferred Qualities:
Proven ability to translate complex accounting concepts into training for staff accountants. A "detective" mindset for identifying variances between payroll systems and ERP reporting.
