Position Overview:
Senior Accountant
  • Legal Industry Client Services (Remote) We are seeking an experienced and client-focused Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of law firm clients.
This role combines technical accounting expertise with strong relationship management skills, serving as a trusted advisor to legal industry clients while ensuring the delivery of accurate financial reporting, compliance, and operational support. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who thrives in a remote environment, enjoys collaborating directly with clients, and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional service standards. This is a primarily remote position with periodic travel to client locations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for meetings, onboarding, strategic planning sessions, and other client-facing engagements. Key ResponsibilitiesClient Relationship Management Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned law firm clients. Build trusted relationships with firm leadership, attorneys, administrators, and operational staff. Conduct regular financial review meetings and provide actionable recommendations. Respond promptly to client inquiries and maintain a high level of client satisfaction. Accounting & Financial Management Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support business decisions. Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and profitability analysis. Monitor key performance indicators specific to the legal industry. Legal Industry Accounting Support Support law firm accounting operations, including trust accounting and client cost management. Ensure compliance with applicable legal accounting requirements and ethical obligations. Assist with partner compensation calculations and related reporting. Support annual audits, tax preparation, and regulatory compliance activities. Process Improvement & Advisory Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting. Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems and workflows. Provide guidance on accounting best practices and operational efficiencies. Support strategic growth initiatives and business planning efforts for clients. Team Collaboration Partner with internal accounting and advisory teams to deliver exceptional client service. Mentor junior accounting staff and provide technical guidance as needed. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge-sharing efforts. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 4+ years of progressive accounting experience. 4+ years of Quickbooks Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Experience managing client relationships and delivering advisory-level service. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Willingness and ability to travel periodically to client locations in Washington, DC.
