If you want to do work that matters to families while growing your career in finance and accounting, keep reading. VidAngel operates as an independent entity based in Utah focused and building for scale. The company is now in a period of deliberate growth, professionalizing its core functions and investing in the infrastructure to support its next chapter. The Opportunity VidAngel is building out its internal finance capabilities and establishing a rigorous, scalable accounting function for the first time. Working under CFO guidance, the Senior Accounting Manager will help build the accounting function from the ground up — creating the systems, documentation, and reporting cadences that the business will rely on as it scales. This position carries high visibility with leadership and the board, and offers the kind of direct impact and ownership that is rare in more established organizations. On a given day, you might close the month, untangle a reconciliation, build a new process from scratch, or prep reporting for a board meeting. You'll own your work end to end — not just execute tasks, but shape the function itself. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Close Execute the full monthly close process, driving accuracy and timeliness with CFO oversight Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals Ensure the integrity and completeness of financial statements — income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows Revenue & Cash Management Execute revenue recognition processes for subscription-based recurring revenue streams Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and day-to-day cash positioning Support cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning in close partnership with the CFO Compliance & Audit Readiness Maintain GAAP compliance across all accounting functions and reporting outputs Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits led by the CFO Establish and maintain proper documentation, internal controls, and audit trails Manage sales tax obligations, multi-state compliance, and regulatory filings Systems & Process Improvement Help evaluate and improve accounting systems, workflows, and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or equivalent) Help design and implement scalable processes that support the company's growth trajectory Identify and drive automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and error rates Reporting & Collaboration Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for CFO review and distribution to leadership Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Serve as a reliable and proactive finance partner to operational teams across the organization Who You Are You're the kind of person who: Catches what others miss. You're detail-oriented and take pride in getting the numbers right the first time. Shows up and follows through. You meet your commitments, own your outcomes, and don't need to be micromanaged. Builds with purpose. You're energized by creating structure, systems, and order where little currently exists. Communicates clearly. You translate financial data into business context that non-finance stakeholders can understand and act on. Cares about the mission. You appreciate what VidAngel does for families and want to be part of building something that matters. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Active or inactive CPA license 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to team coordination or project ownership Strong command of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation Demonstrated experience managing monthly close processes in a technology, SaaS, or subscription-based environment Proficiency with modern accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or similar) Detail-oriented with a bias toward accuracy, process discipline, and documentation Preferred Experience in a small-to-midsize, investor-backed company Familiarity with revenue recognition standards under ASC 606 Experience building or significantly improving an accounting function from the ground up Exposure to external audit processes and tax compliance in a multi-state environment What Success Looks Like A strong hire in this role will achieve the following within the first 6-12 months: Clean, on-time monthly close within 10 business days — established as a reliable cadence by month three Documented accounting policies and procedures manual — codifying standards that the function can scale on Audit-supporting work product — clean reconciliations, organized schedules, and documentation ready for the CFO-led audit process Trusted reporting cadence — delivering financial packages that give leadership and the board confidence in the numbers
