Senior Cost Accountant

DeMar Consulting Group is hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to support growing businesses with accurate cost reporting, margin analysis, inventory and job costing, and QuickBooks Online accounting workflows. This role is ideal for someone who understands how accounting data connects to real business decisions and can help clients get clear, timely, and useful financial information. The Senior Cost Accountant will work as part of our integrated finance team, supporting clients across accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance. We are looking for someone detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working directly inside QuickBooks Online. Responsibilities Manage cost accounting processes, including job costing, inventory costing, COGS analysis, overhead allocation, and gross margin reporting Maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks Online Review and reconcile accounts, including inventory, WIP, prepaid expenses, accruals, and cost-related balance sheet accounts Prepare monthly financial reports, cost reports, and management dashboards Analyze product, project, department, or service-line profitability Identify cost trends, margin issues, and opportunities for operational improvement Support month-end and year-end close processes Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and variance reports Work with clients and internal team members to improve accounting workflows and reporting accuracy Assist with cleanups, system conversions, and process improvements within QuickBooks Online Ensure accounting practices are consistent, well-documented, and aligned with client needs Communicate financial insights clearly to business owners and leadership teams Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience, with strong cost accounting exposure Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience required Strong understanding of job costing, inventory, COGS, overhead allocation, and margin analysis Experience preparing financial statements and management reports Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills Ability to spot accounting issues and resolve discrepancies independently Comfortable working with multiple clients, entities, or business units Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial information in plain language Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven Preferred Qualifications Experience with QuickBooks Online Advanced Experience with manufacturing, construction, trades, professional services, or inventory-based businesses CPA, CMA, or accounting degree preferred but not required Experience with payroll, sales tax, or multi-state accounting Familiarity with apps that integrate with QuickBooks Online What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who can do more than record transactions.
