Chicago, IL (Hybrid) About the Role Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead financial operations across a growing multi-entity organization. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, strong cash management, and disciplined accounting processes across the business. This is a high-impact leadership position overseeing a hybrid accounting structure that includes outsourced bookkeeping partners and remote accounting staff. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and experienced in building scalable processes, driving accountability, and supporting organizational growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Oversight & Reporting Review, validate, and finalize monthly financial statements across multiple entities Ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper accruals in all financial reporting Oversee accounting system outputs and internal accounting resources Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes Cash Management & Banking Manage cash flow, liquidity, and funding across all entities Oversee and approve wire transfers, ACH payments, and intercompany transactions Ensure payroll, vendor payments, and operational obligations are funded on time Accounts Payable & Internal Controls Oversee accounts payable processes, approvals, and payment prioritization Establish and maintain strong internal controls for all disbursements Ensure accuracy and compliance in vendor payment processes Multi-Entity Accounting Manage accounting operations across multiple business entities Oversee intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliations Maintain and enhance the Chart of Accounts to support business growth Team Leadership Lead and manage remote accounting staff and outsourced accounting partners Establish clear workflows, accountability measures, and performance expectations Ensure accurate and timely execution of accounting functions Process Improvement & Scalability Develop and improve accounting processes, workflows, and controls Support onboarding of new business units, locations, or acquisitions Strengthen financial infrastructure to support organizational growth Operational & Strategic Support Oversee property-level and operational financial activities, including funding, insurance, and loan administration Provide leadership with financial insights, risk assessments, and recommendations Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies What Success Looks Like Accurate, reconciled financial statements delivered on schedule Proactive cash flow management with no funding gaps Strong internal controls and scalable accounting processes Efficient accounting operations that support business growth Leadership receives timely, actionable financial reporting and insights Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with multi-entity oversight Hospitality, property management, multi-unit, or related industry experience preferred Strong experience with accounting and financial systems Experience managing remote teams and/or outsourced accounting partners Solid understanding of cash management, accounts payable controls, and financial reporting Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Life Insurance Long-Term Disability Coverage Accident and Critical Illness Supplemental Insurance Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Professional Development Assistance Paid Training Employee Travel/Hotel Discounts Employment Type Direct Hire | Hybrid
