Senior Staff Accountant Location:
Bethesda, MD (2 days onsite, 3 days remote)
Schedule:
40 hours per week
Compensation:
Up to$85,000 per year (plus bonus) Our client, a well-established financial services firm, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting department. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with strong potential for advancement. The ideal candidate will have +3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the financial services industry (e.g., banking, lending), as well as a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited four-year institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain complex journal entries (daily, monthly, adjusting, and recurring). Perform general ledger reconciliations and roll-forwards, including bank statements, fixed assets, AP, accruals, and prepaids. Post daily cash activity, record revenues, and manage loan receivable transactions with accuracy. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation. Compile financial data for audits and tax filings. Oversee assigned daily accounting operations and resolve reconciliation discrepancies. Support internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance. Assist with user testing and documentation for system implementations. Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in financial services or a start-up. Bachelor's in Accounting required; strong GAAP knowledge. Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities. Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to work independently. Strong communicator with high emotional intelligence. Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience preferred (Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus). Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic and flexibility.
