Job Description

Senior Tax Accountant Distinct Recruitment - 4.5 Saint Charles, IL Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $105,000 a year 11 hours ago Benefits Continuing education credits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Work from home Vision insurance 401(k) matching Opportunities for advancement Flexible schedule Life insurance Paid sick time Qualifications CPA Public accounting Tax compliance Accounting firm experience Full Job Description Tax Accountant / Senior Tax Accountant Full Time, Part Time or Reduced Schedule There are not many firms that genuinely mean it when they say they can be flexible. This one does. Maybe you want to step back from the hours without stepping away from public accounting completely. Maybe life looks a little different now and a traditional full time schedule no longer fits. Or maybe you still enjoy the work, just not the expectation of long busy season hours. This small CPA firm in Saint Charles is genuinely open minded around what the right setup looks like. Full time works. A reduced schedule works. Part time works too. If you only want to work a few evenings during busy season and a Saturday, they are happy to have that conversation. The focus here is finding someone good and building something that works around the right person. The firm itself is small, under 10 people, which means you are not boxed into one narrow lane. You will work closely with the CPA and owner, get exposure to a broad mix of work, and be surrounded by people who are happy to train, support and develop you. The role itself is hands on and varied. You will be involved in bookkeeping, tax accounting, and tax return preparation and review. The client base is broad, covering businesses, partnerships, trusts, and individuals, with around 700 returns handled across the year. They also support payroll and work closely with smaller local businesses across a range of industries. You will need public accounting experience for this one. But maybe where you are now no longer fits life outside of work. The bigger firm structure feels rigid, or the smaller firm flexibility never quite materialises. If you still enjoy tax and client work but want a setup that works better around life, this could be worth a conversation.
A few things worth knowing:
CPA or EA preferred, although they are open to someone qualified by experience Mix of bookkeeping and tax work with review exposure over time Flexible hours and reduced schedules genuinely considered Small, close knit team where you will work directly with leadership Long term opportunity if you want it, including the chance to buy into the firm in the future This is the sort of opportunity that could suit someone who still enjoys public accounting, likes variety, and wants to stay in the profession without it needing to take over life. If you are curious to hear more, I would be happy to talk you through it. Interested? Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? No problem. You can still apply the old-fashioned way, or just reach out to start a conversation with Imogen via LinkedIn or the Distinct Recruitment website or contact her cell at 312-584-9844. She'll be happy to tell you more about the firm, the job and the prospects before you commit further. Think you only have 87% of the required experience? Perfect - apply anyway. The CPA firms we partner with want diverse, interesting people, not corporate clones stamped from the same tedious mould. Don't overthink it. The worst outcome is a pleasant conversation about your career. The best? Well, that's where it gets rather exciting.
