Construction / Project-Based Accounting CV Resources is partnering with a well-established, large construction company in Vancouver, WA to identify a Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an early-to-mid career accounting professional who wants to gain strong hands-on experience in a dynamic, project-driven environment. The Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, month-end close activities, job cost tracking, and financial reporting while working closely with project managers and senior accounting staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of operational accounting and project-based financial work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Support job costing, project accounting, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting Track and analyze project budgets, costs, and variances Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed Support billing and progress billing for construction projects Maintain and update general ledger accounts with accuracy and timeliness Assist with fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules Support internal reporting and financial statement preparation Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting Assist with audit support and compliance documentation Identify opportunities to improve processes and accounting workflows

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 1-3+ years of accounting experience preferred (construction accounting a plus) Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and general ledger functions Experience with job costing or project-based accounting highly desirable Excel proficiency required ERP system experience preferred (construction software a plus) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate cross-functionally
