Role:
You'll be the primary owner of PCG's accounting and bookkeeping function, including payroll system management, working closely with our COO and CEO. This is a solo finance role at a small company, which means you'll have real ownership and visibility - and you'll need to be comfortable operating independently. Our CPA firm handles tax strategy and filing; everything else is yours. As a small business grown from scratch, our processes are functional but manual, and our invoicing workflows are varied across client engagements. You'll need to get up to speed quickly on how things currently work. We operate HR and people management through Rippling, where you will be responsible for payroll, state registrations, and basic HR functions. Once you're up to speed on our current processes, we'll rely on you to help us improve and eventually automate as we grow.
Responsibilities include:
Accounts receivable - client invoicing, payment tracking, and follow-up Day-to-day bookkeeping in
QuickBooks Online:
transaction categorization, reconciliation, and data integrity Accounts payable - managing vendor payments and ensuring accurate, timely processing Month-end close and financial reporting QBO administration and ongoing maintenance Payroll processing and coordination State payroll registration and setup in Rippling Internal coordination and client response management for accounting/billing related questions
Skills and Capabilities:
Strong general accounting skills, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. Comfortable stepping into manual, complex processes without a clean system to hand you - you figure things out, document as you go, and flag problems proactively Overcommunicator and paper-trail producer Strong task management and ability to juggle multiple workstreams High attention to detail with minimal rework required Highly comfortable working inside multiple software platforms daily Able to learn new tools quickly and apply them with minimal hand-holding Able to receive and apply direct feedback quickly Adaptable and self-directed; you don't need perfect documentation to get started
3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally in a small business or professional services environment Proficiency in QuickBooks Online - this is a must on day one Comfortable being the sole finance person; you don't need a team around you to stay organized and on top of things Detail-oriented and process-driven, with a track record of catching errors before they become problems Strong communication skills - you'll interface directly with leadership, clients and vendors Based in Dallas or Austin, TX; this role is primarily remote with approximately one in-person day per month. During onboarding, more frequent in-person time should be expected.
Strongly Preferred:
Experience with Rippling (payroll and HR platform) Background working with remote or distributed teams Familiarity with professional services billing or project-based revenue models

Must work normal business hours. You must be available to work during our core hours, 10am-2pm in your time zone.
