Schaumburg, IL (Hybrid - In Office Monday-Wednesday)
Salary:
75,000-$85,000 Benefits include medical, dental and vision About the Opportunity We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join a growing consumer products organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is actively pursuing their CPA and looking to expand their experience in a fast-paced Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting principles, month-end close, and financial analysis, along with a desire to grow within a collaborative finance team. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities while meeting established deadlines.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with internal financial reporting and management reporting packages.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Support accounts payable processing and cash receipt recording.
  • Assist with sales tax, regulatory filings, and audit requests.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Partner with operations and other departments to support business initiatives and resolve accounting-related issues. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), manufacturing, retail, or public accounting environment.
  • CPA certification or active progress toward obtaining a CPA strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
