This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, researching tax issues, supporting tax planning strategies, and helping clients remain compliant with federal, state, and local tax requirements. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, client-focused, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced public accounting environment. The position will be Hybrid. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, and other entities as assigned.
- Review financial records, trial balances, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Research tax law and interpret regulations to address client questions and resolve tax issues.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities and assist with year-round tax planning strategies.
- Communicate with clients to request information, clarify documentation, and explain filing requirements.
- Prepare tax projections, estimated tax payments, extensions, and related workpapers.
- Assist with responses to notices, audits, and other inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Maintain organized client files and ensure timely completion of deliverables during peak tax seasons.
- Collaborate with partners, managers, and staff accountants on engagements and workflow priorities.
- Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of tax preparation experience in public accounting or a CPA firm environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax rules, compliance procedures, and tax return preparation.
- Proficiency in tax, accounting, and spreadsheet software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple client engagements and meet filing deadlines with accuracy.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure.
- Experience preparing returns for multiple entity types and industries.
- Familiarity with tax research tools and client accounting platforms.
