Job Description

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing complex accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. This role serves as a key contributor to financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls, while also mentoring junior accounting staff and partnering with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations Perform detailed account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Analyze financial data and prepare reports to support management decision-making Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements Assist with external audits, internal audits, and tax filings by preparing supporting schedules and documentation Support budgeting and forecasting processes through variance analysis and financial modeling Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and system efficiencies Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting issues and provide guidance to staff accountants Mentor and review the work of junior accounting team members Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Payroll, Operations, and HR Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Advanced proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial analysis Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Effective written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA-eligible preferred Experience with ERP systems Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff Experience in audit, tax, or compliance support Competencies & Attributes High level of integrity and professionalism Ability to work independently and collaboratively Strong time management and prioritization skills Proactive mindset with continuous improvement focus
