Ensures communication of and compliance with accounting policies and procedures for AAA Northeast and Subsidiaries (Club). Analyzes financial information communicated from various departments and/or subsidiaries of the Club to Finance. Prepares monthly journal entries and accruals for Club as necessary. Analyzes monthly financial statements to provide accurate financial information to executive management; prepares financial reports, identifies trends and reviews/corrects errors in financial entries; reconciles monthly bank statements to the general ledger; prepares various ad hoc reports as requested. Accountant II is the journey level in the AAA Accountant series. A2 staff performs professional US GAAP accounting work, which requires the application of established accounting principles to a wide variety of problems. As distinguished from the Accountant I level, accounting assignments are relatively unpredictable, must be adjusted to new or changed conditions, and are complicated by the need to coordinate separate or specialized accounting treatment and reporting. A2 staff may also train Accountant I's and/or may supervise accounting clerical staff.
What you will do:
Generates and analyzes monthly financial statements for distribution to executive management; compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts; ensures timely and accurate completion of required standard journal entries to facilitate monthly closing; tracks monthly accruals to ensure accuracy of financial reporting; participates in a year-end review of accruals. Develop pertinent accounting and related data to prepare reports and statements. Assist in the coordination with the Forecasting and planning team. Prepares account reconciliations, analysis, accruals, and journal entries for senior management monthly and external auditor annually. Performs additional inter-department financial and reporting analyses as directly assigned by the Club's management. Processes general ledger entries; performs bank reconciliations and account analysis. Ensures accurate and timely entries. Analyze and evaluate the more difficult accounting problems and take appropriate action. Acts as point of contact for business lines with questions regarding account charges. Works with internal and external customers to resolve accounting discrepancies; delivers AAA Five Diamond Service Standards to management and all other business contacts. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures and internal policies; identifies opportunities for procedural enhancement; submits detailed recommendations regarding improvements of or enhancements to Club accounting systems and practices; alerts management when policies or procedures may inadvertently create opportunities for fraud. Assists other Staff Accountants with reconciliation issues as needed; routinely participates in the training of new and re-assigned staff. Design programs to store, retrieve and analyze data. Effectively perform a variety of general GAAP accounting assignments, including the preparation of required reports and financial statements. Design and implement the less complex accounting system modifications. Learn to perform a wide variety of accounting work. Other duties may be assigned.
