SUMMARY:
Under general direction of Director of Finance, performs variety of professional accounting duties to maintain general accounting systems for Brown University Health. Prepares accounting/finance-related reports from financial data. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Financial Reporting
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and internal reporting packages used by leadership.
  • Accounts Payable Support
  • Process invoices, verify documentation, and help maintain vendor records in accordance with healthcare compliance standards.
  • Accounts Receivable Tracking
  • Support billing reconciliation, payment posting, and aging report reviews.
  • Cost Analysis
  • Help analyze departmental expenses, supply utilization, and cost saving opportunities within clinical and administrative units.
  • Audit Preparation
  • Assist with documentation requests, sample testing, and compliance checks for internal and external audits.
  • Data Entry & Systems Work
  • Maintain accurate financial data in accounting software and electronic health record-linked financial systems.
  • Special Projects
  • Contribute to ad hoc analyses, dashboards, and process improvement initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Accounting Coursework
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Analytical Skills
  • Strong attention to detail, comfort with numbers, and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Technical Proficiency
  • Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas); exposure to accounting software is a plus.
  • Communication Skills
  • Ability to clearly document work and collaborate with cross functional teams.
  • Interest in Healthcare
  • Curiosity about how finance supports clinical operations and patient care.
