Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to provide hands-on accounting support for a complex, multi-entity environment in Columbia, South Carolina. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented and can take ownership of general ledger activity, keep close processes on track, and contribute quickly with minimal oversight. The role offers the opportunity to support a global finance organization by strengthening day-to-day accounting operations and improving process consistency across the team.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead critical month-end close activities across numerous entities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial records remain accurate.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and balance sheet reconciliations to support reliable reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day general ledger work within NetSuite and help maintain orderly accounting operations in a fast-paced setting.
  • Address backlog items and resolve accounting discrepancies to keep the books current during periods of limited staffing.
  • Partner with international accounting personnel and other globally based team members to coordinate workflows and maintain alignment.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and clear process documentation to support onboarding, training, and consistency across the accounting function.
  • Provide additional accounting support, cleanup work, and special project assistance as needed by finance leadership.
  • Contribute to ongoing process stabilization efforts following a recent NetSuite implementation by identifying gaps and supporting improved execution. Requirements
  • Senior-level accounting experience with strong practical ownership of general ledger processes.
  • Proven hands-on experience using NetSuite in an accounting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and related accounting activities.
  • Experience overseeing or supporting AP/AR-related processes within a broader accounting function.
  • Ability to work effectively with offshore or internationally distributed accounting teams.
  • Demonstrated skill in creating process documentation, support materials, and department SOPs.
  • Capable of stepping into a changing environment quickly and working independently with limited direction.
  • Experience with multi-entity organizations, private equity, family office structures, or international operations is a plus.
