Job Description

Construction Project Accountant Position Summary Hulstein Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant / Staff Accountant to support project accounting and job cost tracking for our excavating and concrete operations. This role is responsible for cost coding, project budget setup, job cost reporting, and working closely with Project Managers to ensure accurate project financial information. Key Responsibilities Review awarded project estimates for financial accuracy Set up cost codes for projects Prepare estimates for import into Foundation and HeavyJob Code invoices, expenses, payroll, and other project-related costs Track project costs and compare actual expenses to budgets Work closely with Project Managers to monitor job costs and project profitability Communicate with Estimators, Engineers, Supervisors, and Project Managers regarding project cost information Reconcile job cost discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records Assist with monthly job cost reporting and month-end close Support general accounting duties as needed Qualifications Accounting, bookkeeping, or construction job costing experience preferred Experience with cost coding and project accounting preferred Knowledge of Foundation, HCSS HeavyBid, and/or HeavyJob is a plus Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to organize and manage multiple projects Strong communication and teamwork skills Proficient with Microsoft Excel and accounting software Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment. They enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and collaborating with project teams to help keep jobs on track financially.
