MUST HAVE QUALFICIATIONS
Bachelor's Degree Required (Accounting, Business, or Finance) 1+ year of operational accounting experience is preferred. Experience with bank reconciliations Ability to optimize manual processes and contribute to continuous improvement in accounting operations. Desire to grow within a large organization and take on increasing responsibility over time. Job Description The Jr. Accountant role focuses on general ledger account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, and month-end close support within a large, growth-oriented organization. You will research and resolve discrepancies, optimize manual processes, and ensure accurate financial documentation while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities Perform general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. Resolve aging balances on the balance sheet and investigate underlying causes. Support month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries and assisting with balance sheet reconciliations. Research discrepancies in accounts, identify root causes, and document findings clearly and thoroughly. Optimize manual processes and day-to-day accounting operations to improve efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with team members to analyze and clear large balances on balance sheet accounts. Assist with external audits by providing supporting documentation and preparing new account reconciliations as needed. Ensure efficient, accurate, and organized documentation of all accounting activities and reconciliations. Prepare and support financial reporting by providing accurate reconciliations and account analyses. Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners to resolve issues related to account balances and financial data. Take ownership of assigned accounts, monitoring activity and ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies. Work Environment This position is based in an office environment within one of the largest employers in Knoxville, offering a professional setting and the opportunity to collaborate closely with a broader finance and cross-functional team. You will work primarily with general ledger systems, spreadsheets, and other standard office and accounting tools, with a focus on accuracy, documentation, and timely completion of month-end and reconciliation activities. The organization provides a stable environment with strong potential for professional growth and advancement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
