Job Description

Robert Half is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Payroll Tax Accountant to support payroll tax compliance and core accounting activities for our team in Vonore, Tennessee. This role blends payroll tax expertise with strong general accounting knowledge, requiring someone who can manage close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and help ensure timely reporting across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in payroll operations, reconciliations, and tax filings, along with the ability to work effectively within established financial systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee payroll tax reporting and filings across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to applicable deadlines.
  • Prepare and post journal entries while supporting monthly close processes and maintaining the integrity of general ledger activity.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts, bank activity, and other balance sheet items to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of sales and payroll tax returns in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Administer payroll processes through ADP and help maintain reliable payroll records and tax data.
  • Support 401(k) program administration and assist with stock-related accounting or recordkeeping activities as needed.
  • Utilize accounting and ERP platforms, including Epicor, to review transactions, monitor reporting, and strengthen financial accuracy.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to address payroll and tax questions, improve reporting consistency, and support audit readiness.
