We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team at our Addison, Texas location. This in-office role involves a wide range of accounting tasks including new vendor and customer setup, accounts payable and receivable assistance, and involvement in month-end close procedures. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Controller and play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Responsibilities also include performing daily cash reconciliations, assisting with the annual external audit process, and ensuring sales tax compliance as we expand to meet Wayfair Nexus requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a commitment to high standards of excellence, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This position offers an opportunity for growth and professional development within our dynamic organization.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
New Vendor and Customer Setup Follow guidelines for setting up new vendors and customers, including basic credit review. 2. Accounts Payable (AP) and Receivable (AR) Assist in processing payable invoices, posting cash receipts, and customer invoicing. 3. External Audit Support Assist with the annual external audit process. 4. Daily Cash Reconciliation Perform daily reconciliation of cash accounts. 5. Sales Tax Compliance Ensure compliance with sales tax exemption requirements as we expand to comply with Wayfair Nexus (expected compliance in 30+ states). 6. Bank Reconciliations Perform monthly bank reconciliations. 7. Month-End Close Responsibilities Analyze income statement trends and reconcile balance sheets. Manage fixed assets and insurance amortization. Accrue property taxes and review open claims in miscellaneous receivable. Review SNI & RNI, run AR and AP Aging reports, and review query for 100% discount and zero pricing. Book prepaid amortization and reconcile accrued freight. Update and distribute advertising and R&M trends.QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of accounting experience. Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required. Comprehensive knowledge of the payables and receivables process. Experience managing fixed assets. Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to perform v-lookups, pivot tables, etc. Experience with month-end close procedures. Ability to manage and record journal entries. Knowledge of general ledger systems.SKILLS & CHARACTER TRAITS
