Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Staff Accountant for our Austin, TX office. In this role, you'll be the sole accounting professional at the company - owning everything from day-to-day bookkeeping and job costing to monthly close and financial reporting. You'll work closely with our CEO on budgeting, projections, and cost strategy, making this a rare opportunity for an early-career accountant to gain broad exposure and real ownership from day one. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally in a small business or startup environment Proficiency in QuickBooks Online Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work Ability to work independently and as part of a team Knowledge of relevant tax regulations and compliance standards Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment Responsibilities Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. Track and report on job-level costs and profitability to support project pricing and resourcing decisions. Own the full monthly financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Partner with the CEO on budgeting, cash flow projections, and ad hoc cost analyses to support business decisions. Maintain audit-ready books year-round and coordinate with external CPA for tax filings and compliance.
