Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. Your expertise in various accounting software and financial concepts will be essential in supporting our organization's financial health. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a passion for delivering precise financial data to inform strategic decision-making. Duties Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy in double entry bookkeeping and adherence to accounting standards. Reconcile accounts on the general ledger, including balance sheet reconciliation and accounts receivable/payable management. Conduct detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues promptly, and maintain clean financial records. Manage payroll processing using systems such as ADP, Workday, Paychex or UltiPro, ensuring timely and accurate employee payments. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities while supporting audit processes with necessary documentation. Assist with budgeting, tax preparation, and compliance activities across governmental and non-profit accounting frameworks. Utilize various financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft or Ceridian to streamline accounting workflows. Support internal controls including SOX compliance procedures to safeguard organizational assets. Execute accounts payable and receivable functions efficiently while managing data entry tasks with precision. Contribute to the preparation of financial reports that reflect the organization's fiscal position accurately. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory. Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments. Strong knowledge of GAAP principles along with technical accounting expertise. Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or PeopleSoft; familiarity with payroll management systems like ADP or Kronos is preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, journal entries and balance sheet analysis accurately. Excellent understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis. Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills). Knowledge of tax regulations and experience with tax preparation processes is advantageous. Strong mathematical skills combined with analytical thinking to interpret complex financial data effectively. $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
