Financial Reporting & Compliance Accountant City of Corpus Christi - 3.5 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Full-time $70,273.40 - $90,000.00 a year 3 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Overview The Financial Reporting & Compliance Accountant provides advanced professional accounting, financial reporting, analytical and administrative support to the Finance Director. The role requires a high degree of technical expertise, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and official documentation for internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Performs highly complex and technical accounting and administrative work related to Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting
- Plays a lead role in the process of reviewing, evaluating, and documenting the system of internal accounting and administrative controls, which is in place to safeguard all the City's assets as well as facilitate the preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
- Assists with compliance reporting related to grants, debt, and other regulatory requirements, including required financial filings
- Provides technical accounting guidance to Finance staff and other departments as needed
- Assists with special projects, financial analyses, and reporting requests from management or regulatory agencies
- Assists In the process of evaluating overall accounting and finance-related systems for improving efficiency
- Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial reports and statements in accordance with government accounting standards (GASB)
- Research, interprets, and assists with implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Supports the development of presentations and briefing materials for City Council, department heads, and external agencies
- Coordinates Finance Department activities with other departments and outside agencies and organizations: provide assistance to the
Director of Finance:
prepare and present reports, and other necessary correspondence- Maintains organized records of financial documents, reports, and departmental communications
- Participates in ERP system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Exempt - Full-Time Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS)
- Five (5) years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Preferred
- Certified Government Finance Officer (CGDO)
- Certified Public Accountant
- Familiarity with financial software systems used in government accounting
- Experience in local government or municipal finance
- Strong note taking and documentation skills for meetings and reports
