Dallas, TX Senior Staff Accountant with statutory reporting experience, insurance industry.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Perform monthly and quarterly closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries for insurance and investment activities (real estate and mortgage loans). 2. Prepare or review bank account, general ledger account, and par-value reconciliations. 3. Prepare USGAAP financial statements for non-insurance entities, including footnotes. 4. Create monthly financial reports regarding insurance or investment activity, as needed. 5. Prepare schedules and exhibits for quarterly and annual statutory statements, including but not limited to Schedule A, B, or E. 6. Assist in the preparation of audited statutory financial statements, including footnotes. 7. Assist external auditors in the preparation of HUD audits related to real estate investments. 8. Support other regulatory reporting requirements, including MD&A, Risk-Based Capital, AmBest, and SRQ filings. 9. Respond to or assist with requests from external auditors, rating agencies, and regulatory bodies. 10. Prepare and/or assist with state regulatory filings, if required. 11. Identify and recommend continuous process improvements Skills and Experience Requirements 1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience. 2. 6+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with 3+ years in a Life Insurance company desired, but not required. 3. Experience in preparing bank and general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, and quarterly and annual financial closings. 4. Understanding of
USGAAP. 5.
General understanding of investments, including real estate and mortgage loans. 6. Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Excel proficiency is a plus. 7. Knowledge of General Ledger Systems and Regulatory Filing Systems, or other insurance-specific financial applications experience is a plus. 8. Strong analytical and communication skills. 9. Good organizational and referencing skills related to work papers, financial statements, and schedules prepared. 10. Experience with SRQ and AmBest preparation is a plus, but not required.
