About xScale During 2019, Equinix took a significant step in its plan to support the rapid growth of hyperscale customers with the establishment of a joint venture to own, run, and develop xScale data centers in Europe. This milestone set the foundation for funding and expanding xScale globally. In 2024, we expanded into the USA, marking the 6th and one of the largest xScale joint ventures to date. Today, xScale represents one of the fastest-growing and most strategically important areas of Equinix. This role is part of our global xScale Controllership team, supporting the transactions from an accounting perspective with high visibility and interaction with several key teams including Tax, Treasury, FTSE (Finance Transformation and Systems Enablement), Corporate Development and Capital Markets Role Overview This newly created role reports directly to the xScale Controller and will lead monetizations, refinancing activities, and other transactions impacting xScale from an accounting perspective. It is a highly visible position offering significant learning opportunities and broad exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional partners. Main Duties Represent the xScale Controllership function from initial transaction planning through due diligence (where applicable), deal execution, and operationalization partnering very closely with Tax, PMO, Treasury, Corporate Development and Capital Markets internally and also investors, deal partners and auditors. Participate in early-stage transaction discussions to provide the controllership perspective, identify accounting considerations, and highlight downstream operational impacts. Review term sheets, transaction structures, and proposed deal mechanics to identify areas requiring accounting, policy, or process input. Assess when Technical Accounting involvement is required for complex or non-standard accounting assessments and coordinate timely engagement. Lead controllership workstreams during due diligence, including gathering information, coordinating inputs from global controllership teams, and identifying key accounting or operational risks. Facilitate deal-related information requirements by driving prioritization and a more proactive approach across stakeholders. Facilitate regular touchpoints with xScale Controllership and functional accounting teams to monitor progress against transaction milestones. Consolidate and communicate status updates, issue logs, and required escalations to leadership. Translate transaction terms into actionable handoffs for operational teams, ensuring accounting treatments, processes, and reporting requirements are understood and implemented. Ensure readiness for post-close operational execution, including systems configurations, journal entries, controls, and reporting processes. Support the first close cycle following a transaction to ensure accurate execution of all accounting requirements. Identify where new or updated documentation, controls, or process enhancements are needed and partner with teams to implement improvements. Act as a trusted controllership advisor to deal teams, helping them understand the accounting and operational implications of proposed transaction structures. Support internal and external audit needs related to transaction activity by coordinating materials and ensuring timely responses. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA is essential requirement Big 4 Public Accounting experience is a requirement. Experience with IFRS and US GAAP Very strong communication skills with the ability and confidence to influence cross functionally. Self-starter who works on their own initiative Previous experience in M&A deals and transactions is a distinct advantage. This posting is a new position within our organization. 118,000- 176,000 USD / Annual Canada
Toronto Office TRO :
131,000- 181,000 CAD / Annual Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.
